To make sure that the data files from your steam-purchase, do amd5sum check on data1/pak0.pak and data1/pak1.pak, make sure theyare the same we noted in the README. Also make sure that you onlycopy those two files (data1/pak0.pak and data1/pak1.pak) from yoursteam installation: nothing else is needed.
Arcane Dimensions requires the full commercial quake's versions of the pak0.pak and pak1.pak files from the full game's id1 folder (more details below). There are executables for windows, linux and mac included in this release. However, this runs much faster on Windows than it does on Mac or Linux, so I encourage you to run it on that OS if possible.
This build is Not an addon for the main Quake Epsilon build at this stage, it is a standalone install - do NOT unzip into your main quake epsilon build folder, if you have one. Arcane Dimensions requires the commercial version of quake's pak0.pak and pak1.pak files from the full game's id1 folder. Click 'read more' for installation details etc.
All that DarkPlaces needs from the Quake CD is pak files (do not copy opengl32.dll from the Quake CD, it will not work with DarkPlaces!). With this in mind, all you need to do is make a Quake directory, extract the darkplaces engine zip to that directory, then make a quake/id1 directory, and put the pak0.pak and pak1.pak from your Quake CD into the quake/id1 directory, then all should be well.
All that DarkPlaces needs from the Quake CD is pak files, with this in mind, all you need to do is make a /quake directory, extract the DarkPlaces engine zip to that directory, then make a /quake/id1 directory, and put the pak0.pak and pak1.pak from your Quake CD into the /quake/id1 directory, then all should be well, you will probably also want to make a /bin/darkplaces script containing the following text:
All that DarkPlaces needs from the Quake CD is pak files, with this in mind, make a folder named Quake, drag the Darkplaces.app into this Quake folder, make a folder inside the Quake folder (alongside Darkplaces) named id1, and put the pak0.pak and pak1.pak from your Quake CD into the quake/id1 directory, then all should be well, simply run the Darkplaces app

How can I tell what version I have?If you d/led it 2 weeks ago then I'm pretty sure it would be 3.1.Especially if it came with 2.0.x kernels. I think the highest kernel that3.0 came with was 1.3.12 or something.> I understand your problem. I also play under Win95 also because I> can't get the joystick (no flames) to work in Quake even though I loaded a> joystick module which detects my joystick at startup. I mean, do you have anything elsethat is giving you sound properly? If not, make sure you look at/usr/src/linux/drivers/sound/Readem.linux cuz there is one step where youcreate a /dev/ file which isn't obvious unless you RTFM. I'm gonna' wait till I have a little time on my hands, maybe theweekend, and then I'm gonna' follow you steps exactly. Thanks and goodluck. BTW, I was actually surprised to see someone at Harvard using Linux whowas a CS major as well. I'm not sure why tho. I should have realizedthat CS majors everywhere would be using it for the exact reason I am.Thanks again...Saadiq Rodgers-Kingsaa...@princeton.edu 2ff7e9595c
